My house is dark so I set up my easel in the brightest window. My house is small so my studio also has my bed in it. I live in a tiny village so the neighbours wonder what I’m doing up there. The countryside is alive with colour and rhythm so I paint in acrylics with an eye to design. My encounters with non-human beings are vivid and fleeting so I try to capture them. I’ve met dancing hares and swarming shrews, fledgeling owls and sleeping deer. When I take my hat off nobody recognises me.
